Training Officer – Capacity Building for Refugee Services

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Training Officer for its Switchboard project, which provides training and capacity‑building services to refugee and newcomer service providers across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver webinars, e‑learning courses, in‑person trainings and online certificate programs on refugee and newcomer services.
• Provide consultation, guidance and resource recommendations via email or virtual meetings to service providers.
• Create written learning resources such as blog posts, guides and toolkits.
• Lead the production of multimedia resources, including e‑learning modules, videos and podcasts.
• Coordinate a monthly community of practice focused on emerging topics.
• Contribute to the annual training workplan, manage budgets and timelines, and oversee external expert relationships.
• Track training outputs and outcomes, analyze participant feedback and support reporting for Switchboard.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., MSW) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum six years of direct service experience with refugees or other ORR‑eligible populations.
• Proven experience delivering training or technical assistance to refugee service providers.
• Experience providing client‑centered, trauma‑informed, strength‑based services.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience using Zoom and other virtual collaboration tools.
• Ability to design and develop e‑learning modules and multimedia content.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.

• Salary range $70,000 – $85,000 per year.
