Trade Accountant

About the role

We are a global commodity trading firm seeking a high‑potential early‑career accountant to own our month‑end close and develop into a full‑cycle commodity trading accountant. Reporting to the Regional Financial Controller, you will work with modern tools such as Excel automation and AI to improve processes.

Key responsibilities

• Month‑End Close & Trade Accounting: prepare accruals, inventory valuation, mark‑to‑market entries, hedge reconciliations, intercompany and cash reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: trial‑balance reconciliations, monthly group reporting package, SG&A variance analysis, system‑to‑GL reconciliations between ETRM and Dynamics.
• Daily Operations: manage AP/AR posting, cash application, expense processing, and identify automation opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1–3 years experience in public accounting or a related industry.
• Strong reconciliation mindset and intellectual curiosity about markets.
• Clear written communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX‑MATCH).
• Microsoft Dynamics (GL/ERP).
• ETRM systems Symphony and RightAngle.
• Expensify, Power BI, and AI‑assisted workflow tools.
• Python, VBA or Power Query scripting.
• IFRS 9 knowledge for financial instruments.
