Tooling Maintenance Technician

About the role

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Tooling Maintenance Technician to support the production of large composite aerostructures for the Airbus A350 XWB. You will work on the shop floor, dismantling, moving, assembling and repairing industrial machinery and tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Dismantle, move, assemble, install and repair equipment according to blueprints, drawings or verbal instructions.
• Use hand and power tools, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks to relocate machinery and install conveyors or tram rails.
• Construct foundations, align machines and perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Set up and operate machine tools and fabrication equipment to rework or produce new parts.
• Perform root‑cause analysis, collaborate with vendors, engineering and other crafts to resolve equipment issues.
• Repair and build lay‑up tools and perform routine minor maintenance such as filter changes and lubrication.

Required profile

• Ability to work any shift and complete a Workkeys Assessment or hold a High School Diploma/GED.
• Physical ability to lift, carry and move items up to 30 lb, stand, squat, kneel and walk on uneven surfaces daily.
• Vision to read screens and engineering drawings; hearing to respond to safety warnings; communication skills for daily interactions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.
• Experience using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks for equipment relocation.
• Knowledge of machine tools, fabrication machinery and conveyor systems.
• Root‑cause analysis and Total Preventative Maintenance techniques.
• Repair and maintenance of lay‑up tooling.
