Machine Operator

About the role

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Machine Operator to join its Operations department. You will work on the shop floor producing large composite aerostructures for the Airbus A350 XWB, ensuring high‑quality parts and supporting continuous production flow.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools to produce parts to exact tolerances.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches and engineering specifications to determine machining sequences, cuts, feeds and speeds.
• Perform routine minor machine maintenance such as filter changes, lubrication and coolant level checks.
• Move products within the manufacturing area and support material flow between operations.
• Monitor and verify quality using statistical process control and other procedures.

Required profile

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
• Willingness and ability to work any shift.
• High school diploma/GED or Workkeys Assessment completion.
• Physical ability to stand, lift up to 30 lb, squat/kneel and use personal protective equipment.

Required skills

• Operation of Conventional and Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine tools.
• Use of precision measuring instruments and machinist hand tools.
• Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
