Tool Integration Electrical Engineer I/II

About the role

Techtronic Industries (TTi) is hiring a Tool Integration Electrical Engineer I/II at its headquarters in Anderson, South Carolina. The engineer drives embedded systems design and implementation for battery-powered outdoor equipment, focusing on power electronics, motor control, sensors, switches, harnesses and connectors. The position is onsite and works within a team with hardware, firmware, product development and test engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Under the supervision of senior engineers, develop hardware systems for new cordless tools, including PCBA design and wiring, and select switches, connectors and electronic components.
• Support prototype assembly, troubleshooting and demonstration for cross-functional team members.
• Modify and expand existing embedded firmware for new products.
• Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, ESD testers and data acquisition systems to debug and develop designs.
• Run experiments, perform simulations and analyze data to draw conclusions; help write test plans and discuss trade-offs with cross-functional teams.
• Create Work Breakdown Structures, track milestones and communicate progress and risks.
• With the Regulatory team, ensure designs meet standards such as UL, TUV, CEC, CE, CPSC and ANSI.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 0.5 to 4 years of experience in embedded electronics design with strong hardware skills; exposure to firmware, power electronics, EMI/EMC and harness design is a plus.
• Experience with engineering design tools such as PCBA schematic/layout and circuit simulation software; familiarity with embedded C development tools is a big plus.
• Knowledge of battery-powered tool architecture, component selection and design tradeoffs.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including domestic and international travel to Vietnam.
