Title IX Coordinator and Equal Opportunity Officer

About the role

The Title IX Coordinator and Equal Opportunity Officer reports to the Dean of Students and leads the university’s Title IX, non‑discrimination, and related policies. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and internal regulations while providing training and support to students, faculty, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage intake, investigation, and resolution of sexual misconduct, harassment, and discrimination complaints, using the Maxient system.
• Develop, implement, and update affirmative action, equal opportunity, and non‑discrimination policies to meet regulatory requirements.
• Provide training, awareness programs, and educational materials for the university community.
• Collect, analyze, and report data on complaints, climate assessments, and trends to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with Student Advocate, General Counsel, HR, Student Affairs, and campus security to maintain a safe and inclusive environment.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Human Resources, Social Work) or Juris Doctorate.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in higher‑education Title IX or campus compliance, including three years conducting investigations and delivering prevention education.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state anti‑discrimination laws (Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADEA, ADA, Clery Act, VAWA, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with compassion, sensitivity, and impartiality.
• Experience working with diverse student and employee populations and employing a trauma‑informed approach.
