About the role
Georgetown University seeks a temporary Group Fitness Instructor to design and lead safe, effective workouts for students, faculty, staff, and community members. The role supports the university’s Cura Personalis value by offering individualized attention in a fun, health‑focused environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design and lead group fitness classes that promote proper form, biomechanics, and safe exercise.
- Provide personalized guidance to participants, encouraging a holistic, healthy lifestyle.
- Interact with students, faculty, staff, and Yates Field House community members to foster engagement.
- Report to the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness.
Required profile
- Engaging, self‑motivated, with a passion for helping individuals achieve fitness goals.
- Excellent verbal and non‑verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, group class structure, proper form, and cueing.
- Successful completion of a specialized group‑fitness course and/or a national certification (e.g., ACE, AFAA, Zumba, Mad Dogg).
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Evening or weekend availability (at least one day per week).
- Preference for Pilates or Zumba certification.
