Teacher Assistant (K-8) – Classroom Support

About the role

The Roger Bacon Academy seeks dedicated Teacher Assistants for its K-8 classrooms at Classical Charter Schools of Leland. Reporting to the Headmaster, this 10‑month, full‑time position supports teachers in delivering the school’s mission of fostering learning in the arts and sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Teach resource classes such as art, PE, music, or computer lab.
• Assist with morning drop‑off, afternoon pickup, and daily classroom routines.
• Monitor student behavior on the playground, during recess, assemblies, and drills.
• Grade papers, record grades, and help students with classwork assignments.
• Process hot‑lunch money, field‑trip paperwork, and other administrative tasks.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness, manage supplies, and support safety procedures.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or at least two years of college credits (education focus preferred).
• Ability to perform clerical duties, operate office equipment, and maintain basic records.
• Strong organizational skills and the capacity to follow oral and written directions.
• Effective interpersonal skills to work with teachers, students, and parents.
