K-8 Classroom Teacher

About the role

The Roger Bacon Academy seeks passionate educators to teach grades K‑8 at Classical Charter Schools of Leland. Teachers work with a dedicated Beginning Teacher Coordinator and Academic Coaches to deliver a research‑based Direct Instruction curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily lessons using the Direct Instruction method, adhering to pacing guides and curriculum materials.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom environment and manage student behavior during all activities.
• Assess student work honestly, provide prompt feedback, and tutor students needing additional support.
• Enter student progress data promptly and communicate regularly with parents about academic performance.
• Collaborate with Academic Coaches, Lead Teachers, and other staff for professional development and instructional support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education with a valid North Carolina teaching certificate for the applicable grade level.
• Ability to teach a diverse, large class and remain on feet throughout the day.
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 20 lb.
• Willingness to pursue lateral entry or additional licensure if needed, with academy support.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Direct Instruction teaching methodology.
• Ability to use curriculum pacing guides, benchmarking assessments, and data entry systems.
