Systems Architect 2 – MLOps Engineer

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Systems Architect 2 specializing in MLOps to design, develop, and deploy clinical AI/ML applications. The role blends systems architecture with advanced machine‑learning operations to support research, clinical, and operational workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement infrastructure for ML/AI workloads across hybrid cloud/on‑premises environments, ensuring HIPAA and IRB compliance.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) for automated model deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Develop robust APIs (RESTful, gRPC) to integrate ML models with clinical, research, and administrative systems.
• Collaborate with data scientists, IT, and clinical stakeholders to translate models into production‑ready services.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor senior analysts, and manage vendor relationships and contracts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in systems architecture, DevOps or MLOps, preferably in healthcare or academic settings.
• Proven ability to lead complex, high‑impact projects and work independently.
• Strong understanding of clinical data standards (FHIR, HL7, DICOM) and regulated environments.

Required skills

• Python and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, ARM templates).
• CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• ML lifecycle tools (MLflow, DVC, Airflow).
• Hybrid cloud/on‑premises platforms, Azure preferred.
• Knowledge of clinical standards (FHIR, HL7, DICOM) and responsible AI practices.
