Survivor of Torture Caseworker

About the role

The International Rescue Committee seeks a dedicated Survivor of Torture Caseworker to provide culturally sensitive, client‑centered support to individuals who have endured torture. You will help clients navigate complex systems, access essential services, and rebuild their lives in a safe and dignified manner.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive case management services to Survivors of Torture, including eligibility screening, enrollment, and development of individualized service and safety plans.
• Conduct outreach to refugee‑serving agencies, ethnic community organizations, and mainstream service providers to raise awareness of IRC programs.
• Complete social and legal assessments, assist with benefits applications, and provide appropriate legal referrals.
• Coordinate culturally and linguistically appropriate mental‑health referrals and other support services.
• Maintain detailed, timely case notes and enter all client data into the organization’s data management system.
• Implement client satisfaction and progress surveys as outlined in grant proposals.
• Support administrative tasks such as report writing, proposal development, and training coordination for service providers.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of survivor‑of‑torture issues, asylum processes, immigration law, anti‑trafficking measures, and the Violence Against Women Act.
• Experience providing culturally and linguistically appropriate case management in a humanitarian or non‑profit setting.
• Ability to develop service plans, conduct assessments, and advocate for clients with mainstream service providers.
• Excellent written communication skills for case documentation and reporting.
