Substance Abuse Counselor – Youth Residential Program

About the role

PsyPhyCare is seeking a Certified or Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor to provide on‑site prevention, education, and counseling services within a federally supported residential youth program for ages 16‑24 in Pittsburgh, PA. This part‑time contract role works Monday‑Friday with flexible hours and no weekend requirement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct substance‑use assessments and screenings.
• Provide individual and group counseling for alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use.
• Develop and facilitate prevention education programs.
• Create individualized treatment and intervention plans.
• Engage with students throughout residential areas and collaborate with medical, mental‑health, and residential staff.
• Support crisis intervention, maintain confidential clinical documentation, and uphold professional ethics.

Required profile

• Meet Pennsylvania licensure requirements (CSAC, LADC, or equivalent).
• At least one year of substance‑abuse counseling or prevention experience, preferably with adolescents or young adults.
• Strong counseling, documentation, and communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
