Special Projects Assistant – Behavioral Health

About the role

The Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) within Allegheny County’s Department of Human Services is seeking a full‑time Special Projects Assistant. Working under the OBH Sr. Manager of Special Projects and supporting the Projects Specialist, the incumbent will help develop, implement, and evaluate behavioral‑health initiatives, grants, and emergency response plans.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the OBH Operations unit and other staff to design and launch projects, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Create and maintain SharePoint sites and OnBase filing systems for bureau files and project documentation.
• Develop promotional materials such as one‑page informational guides and manuals.
• Enter GPRA data for federally funded projects and assist with weekly reports for the Medical Assistance Transportation Program.
• Support the Stand Together anti‑stigma campaign by designing handouts, managing Qualtrics surveys, and researching event formats.
• Assist in planning technical assistance for behavioral‑health program operations, contracted providers, and emergency response plans.
• Prepare written reports, studies, and policy drafts as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in public health, administration, or related field is a plus.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent written communication skills for report and policy preparation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SharePoint.
• Experience using OnBase document management system.
• Familiarity with Qualtrics survey platform.
• Basic data analysis and reporting capabilities.
