Structures Engineer – Air Vehicles

About the role

The Air Dominance and Strike Aerostructures Engineering Team is seeking a Structures Engineer to design and analyze advanced structural parts for air vehicles and missile platforms. You will own the full development lifecycle, from concept through prototype manufacturing, ensuring high‑performance, resilient structures for contested environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop primary and secondary aircraft structural parts (metallic and composite) from preliminary design to prototype manufacturing.
• Perform detailed finite element modeling and analysis, including strength, buckling, damage tolerance, and delamination.
• Conduct trade studies and design research to optimize weight, performance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—mechanical systems, integration, aerodynamics, manufacturing, and project engineering.
• Provide onsite engineering support at manufacturing and integration sites.

Required profile

• B.S. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of aerospace or related industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of composite material mechanics, load paths, and hand calculations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Clearance or higher.

Required skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for component and assembly level simulations.
• Siemens NX proficiency.
• Design of metallic and composite aircraft structures.
• Experience with clean‑sheet aircraft configuration and rapid prototype design.
