Staff Software Engineer – API Development

About the role

Zinnia is a leading technology platform that accelerates growth in life and annuities. We are looking for a highly skilled Staff API Developer to design, document, and maintain enterprise APIs using industry‑best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, document, and implement API standards and best practices for Zinnia enterprise APIs.
• Collaborate with the API management team to add gateway capabilities such as traceability, monitoring, security, and analytics.
• Develop and maintain a next‑generation enterprise search with natural‑language capabilities.
• Write and maintain polyglot enterprise APIs and automate unit, functional, integration, and contract testing.
• Catalog existing APIs and create a developer portal for internal and external consumption.
• Integrate the enterprise IAM solution across all APIs and provide technical guidance to the development team.

Required profile

• 6+ years of software development experience in a cloud‑native environment.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent communication, critical‑thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and travel as needed.
• Experience designing and maintaining versioned APIs and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
