Staff Product Designer, Spend

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Staff Product Designer for its Spend product. Spend brings together corporate cards, expenses, bills and procurement, and the designer shapes clear, approachable experiences for complex financial workflows. The role works from the San Francisco office three days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the product design vision for Spend, from first sketch through shipped product, in partnership with Product and Engineering.
• Translate complex financial workflows across corporate cards, expenses, bills and procurement into clear, approachable experiences.
• Lead end-to-end design across desktop web, mobile web and native app experiences, partnering with engineers from exploration to launch.
• Shape product strategy, roadmap and customer validation, and help establish the design culture and principles for the team.
• Build deep domain knowledge and connect work across the Spend product so experiences form a coherent system.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including the design systems team, to create scalable solutions rather than isolated screens.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience as a UX or product designer, with expertise across desktop web, mobile web and native app experiences.
• A strong portfolio showing complex systems, multi-channel user journeys and intricate object relationships, not just polished screens.
• Ability to think in systems and turn complex financial or operational workflows into intuitive product experiences.
• Proven track record of leading projects end to end in ambiguous environments, and of working closely with Product and Engineering.
• Preferred: experience in financial services, fintech, expense management, corporate cards, procurement or multi-entity, multi-currency products; experience with product strategy, roadmaps and design systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in UX methods including generative research, information architecture, interaction design and user testing.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain design rationale to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
