Sports Medicine Assistant – Orthopedics Clinic (Full‑Time)

About the role

Join Ochsner Health’s Orthopedics Clinic as a Sports Medicine Assistant, providing essential support to physicians and patients. You will work both independently and under direct physician supervision, ensuring high‑quality clinical care and patient education.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians with clinical and operative tasks, including research and quality‑improvement projects.
• Greet patients, gather medical histories, perform focused examinations, and document findings in the EMR.
• Perform therapeutic procedures such as wound care, crutch and gait training, casting, splinting, and bracing.
• Schedule diagnostic examinations and physical therapy appointments per physician orders.
• Handle telephone and general office duties, maintaining efficient clinic flow.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Allied Health (required); Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of related healthcare experience in a clinical setting.
• Certifications: Certified Orthopedic Technologist (OTC), Basic Life Support (BLS), Board‑Certified Athletic Trainer (BOCATC).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate patients.
