Solution Engineer / Sales Consultant

About the role

As a Solution Engineer / Sales Consultant at Elsevier, you will partner with Account Managers to grow sales opportunities and close deals within the academic and research market. You will translate customer needs into technical solutions, deliver demos, and ensure successful hand‑off to implementation teams.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the technical sales process by meeting clients, conducting detailed discovery, and presenting tailored solutions.
• Support Account Managers with presentations, technical queries, and tender responses.
• Design and propose software solutions that meet client success criteria and contribute to product roadmap discussions.
• Collaborate with Implementation and Customer Success teams to ensure smooth hand‑off and successful deployment.
• Generate referrals and reference customers by delivering high‑quality pre‑sales experiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or a related field.
• 5+ years of sales experience as a Solution Engineer or Pre‑Sales Consultant.
• Experience with SaaS solutions; publishing systems experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication, relationship‑building and analytical skills.
• Fluent English; experience in an international matrixed organization is a plus.
