Solution Engineer / Sales Consultant

About the role

As a Solution Engineer / Sales Consultant at Elsevier, you will partner with Account Managers to grow sales opportunities and close deals within the academic and research market. You will translate customer needs into technical solutions, deliver demos, and ensure a smooth hand‑off to implementation teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth client discovery, document requirements and present tailored technical demos.
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing and the tender team to align solutions with the latest roadmap and tender specifications.
• Log all opportunity details and customer feedback in the CRM system.
• Support the Account Manager with technical queries, presentations and user‑group meetings.
• Assist Implementation and Customer Success managers during hand‑off and post‑sale phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in solution engineering, pre‑sales consulting or a similar sales‑focused technical role.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with fluency in English.

Required skills

• Experience selling SaaS or software‑as‑a‑service solutions.
• Familiarity with publishing systems and workflows (a plus).
• Proficiency in delivering software demonstrations and technical presentations.
• Ability to work with CRM tools to capture requirements and track opportunities.
