Software Quality Engineer II

About the role

Impulse Space is hiring a Software Quality Engineer II in Redondo Beach to keep its software at the highest quality standard across complex, mission-critical flight and ground software programs. You will help define and document software development and test processes, define tests for automated testing pipelines, and prepare software releases for space missions ranging from low Earth orbit to Mars.

Key responsibilities

• Write software development plans, software configuration management plans and software test plans to communicate the development process to customers and stakeholders.
• Define comprehensive test plans covering functional, integration, system and user acceptance tests.
• Support software documentation and coordinate releases and deliveries with customers.
• Monitor, configure and manage static analysis, code coverage and other tools.
• Define quality metrics and dashboards for continuous monitoring.
• Verify that release candidates pass testing and evaluate compliance with the software development process.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical discipline.
• 3+ years of demonstrated experience in software quality assurance.
• Demonstrated experience tailoring software development processes.
• Demonstrated experience writing or editing software user documentation.
• Demonstrated experience with Git repositories and artifacts.
• Demonstrated experience writing release test plans and tracking their results.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C, C++ and/or Python.
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Preferred: familiarity with MIL-STD-498 or SMC-S-0123, AS9100 processes, static analysis tools, and the risk management framework.
