Software Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Impulse Space is hiring a Software Infrastructure Engineer in Redondo Beach. You will design, implement and operate the infrastructure, tooling and workflows used to build, release, deploy and test software, working with Software and GNC engineers to create reliable, automated deployment and test systems for multiple spacecraft and hardware-in-the-loop test platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Software and GNC teams to develop, operate and continuously improve automated build, integration, test and deployment pipelines.
• Design, develop and maintain systems for deploying binaries and other software artifacts to spacecraft hardware used for flight and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing.
• Develop reliable, automated deployment workflows that support software releases and test operations at launch and test sites.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting and data-analysis capabilities supporting continuous integration, release readiness and test operations.
• Develop and maintain containerized environments and infrastructure-as-code automation to provision, configure and operate CI, HITL and test-site infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Physics, Engineering or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in Software Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE or Software Engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with Git and CI/CD tooling (GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Bash or equivalent) used to build automation and developer tooling.
• Demonstrated experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Podman or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience with Linux systems, network configuration and common networking protocols.

Preferred skills and experience

• Maintaining C++ build systems with CMake, Make, Bazel or equivalent.
• Infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
• CI/CD systems that automate build, test, packaging and deployment for complex software systems.
• Packaging and supporting cross-platform SDKs or developer-facing releases, and managing build configurations, versioned releases and software artifacts across multiple targets.

• Pay range of $130,000 to $280,000 per year, depending on role, level, location and skills.
