Software Engineer – Fixed Income & Commodities Technology

About the role

Millennium is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Fixed Income & Commodities Technology team. You will work closely with portfolio managers, risk analysts, and engineers worldwide to build and maintain high‑performance trading applications that support live risk and P&L calculations.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with quant, risk, and engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy compute‑intensive applications.
• Optimize platform latency through network and systems programming techniques.
• Automate system maintenance, end‑of‑day processing, data integrity checks, and bulk data loads.
• Maintain and enhance existing capabilities as new business requirements emerge.
• Partner with project managers and senior leadership to capture analytic requirements and monitor delivery.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java or C++ with at least one year of Rust development.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Required skills

• Java, C++, Rust
• SQL and experience with DuckDB, Postgres, and other RDBMS
• Containerization technologies, preferably Kubernetes and ArgoCD
• Scaled architecture design and performance optimization of backend systems
• Apache Kafka, Apache Arrow, Parquet, Avro
• Cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP (a plus)
