Software Engineer - Cloud

About the role

Carnegie Robotics is seeking a Software Engineer focused on cloud and backend infrastructure to own end‑to‑end cloud projects for robotics and R&D applications. The role involves architecting solutions, deploying infrastructure, building REST APIs, and ensuring smooth operation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and administer AWS accounts and infrastructure, monitor costs and optimize resources.
• Develop and maintain robust backend services and REST APIs primarily in Python.
• Collaborate with management, developers, and external users to scope requirements and prioritize work.
• Troubleshoot and resolve user issues quickly, asking the right follow‑up questions.
• Implement observability and security best practices using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Datadog.
• Leverage modern AI tooling to accelerate development and problem‑solving.

Required profile

• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Several years of experience in cloud engineering, backend development, or full‑stack roles.
• Deep experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS) and serverless architectures.
• Strong Python development skills and experience building REST APIs.
• Solid knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform preferred; CloudFormation/CDK acceptable).
• Proficiency with AI development tools and assistants.
