Social Worker – MSW

About the role

The Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Social Worker with an MSW to provide psychosocial assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention for patients and families across its hospitals. This position works on a per‑diem day shift, collaborating with clinical teams to ensure optimal social and health adjustment for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial evaluations, counseling, and crisis intervention for patients and families.
• Identify and document clinical, psychosocial, and financial barriers to care transitions.
• Research and refer patients to community agencies for social, emotional, and financial assistance.
• Report suspected child or adult abuse/neglect and ensure compliance with federal guidelines.

Required profile

• Master’s Degree in Social Work.
• At least 1 year of social work or related mental health experience.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics.
• Knowledge of patient rights, HIPAA, and relevant psychological principles.

Required skills

• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Strong emotional intelligence and empathy.
• Logical reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches.
