Social Media Specialist – Full-Time

About the role

The Social Media Specialist will manage daily content creation, publishing, and community interaction for Visit South Padre Island’s social channels. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will help build brand awareness and drive visitor engagement through authentic storytelling and timely online conversations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain content calendars for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, and others.
• Publish, schedule, and manage posts using tools like Trello.
• Create engaging photo, video, and written content that aligns with brand voice.
• Collaborate with influencers, assist with photography/videography, and support event coverage.
• Monitor platforms, respond to comments and messages, and track social trends.
• Execute campaigns for festivals, partnerships, and seasonal initiatives.
• Produce website copy, e‑newsletters, video scripts, and graphics while applying SEO best practices.
• Coordinate digital projects with external vendors (SimpleView, Crowdriff, Cision, etc.).
• Maintain the digital asset library and manage event listings.
• Generate performance reports and support paid social advertising efforts.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work collaboratively.
• Excellent written communication and storytelling skills.
• Comfortable handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Trello for project management.
• Experience using SimpleView, Crowdriff, and Cision platforms.
• Knowledge of SEO strategies for social and content development.
