About the role

The Detroit Red Wings Social Media Seasonal Video Editor assists the social media and brand marketing team with gameday responsibilities and social-first video projects. The editor needs a strong understanding of video editing and the social media sports landscape, and must generate fresh ideas that engage fans and deliver creative edits on tight timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Edit engaging social-first video content for platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
• Collaborate with the social media team to deliver short and long-form content such as in-game highlights, hype reels, features and sponsored content.
• Support the social media content calendar and real-time content creation.
• Work with sponsorship, ticket sales and community impact teams on projects, special events and campaigns.
• Create content linking Tigers baseball or Red Wings hockey to current events, trending topics and pop culture.
• Brainstorm and execute creative that reaches new fans and increases video views.
• Capture content at home games and offsite promotional, community and sponsor events as needed.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and platform updates to improve video quality.

Required profile

• College student or recent graduate with a degree in video editing and production or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Above-average knowledge of hockey; preferred: experience in the sports and entertainment industry.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours including weekends, nights and holidays.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and solid technical knowledge.
• Strong portfolio of social media video content.
• Videography, editing, lighting and sound.
• Preferred: motion graphics experience.
