Skilled Laborer – Civil Construction Field Crew

About the role

We are seeking a Skilled Laborer to join our civil construction crews in the Williamsburg, Virginia area. The role involves hands‑on work on active sites, supporting grading, trenching, utility installation and erosion control while operating safely with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with grading, trenching and utility installation using hand tools, machinery and compaction equipment.
• Install erosion control measures such as silt fences and inlet protection according to plans.
• Follow trench safety guidelines, set up trench boxes and shoring, and coordinate with equipment operators using hand signals.
• Perform layout tasks including staking, line marking and laser setup.
• Load, unload, transport and stage materials to keep civil scopes moving efficiently.
• Maintain clean, organized work zones and actively participate in safety meetings.
• Provide informal leadership to less‑experienced laborers when needed.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of hands‑on experience in civil or general site construction.
• Familiarity with trenching, grading, underground utility work and erosion control practices.
• Ability to read basic site and civil plans and work safely without constant supervision.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather, lift up to 50 lb and sustain activity throughout the shift.
