Shop Tech II - Rental Fleet Equipment Repair

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Shop Tech II in Dallas Hub to repair and maintain machines in the rental fleet, including earth-moving, aerial, landscaping and material handling equipment. The work ranges from general repairs and maintenance to complex repairs on hydraulic and electrical systems and diesel engines. The position reports to the Regional Rental Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Advance troubleshooting and repairs: electrical, hydraulic and diesel engine systems, small engines (fuel, oil and air filtration, ignition), trailer maintenance and welding repairs (about 40%)
• Inspections and audits: aerial lift inspections per checklist, parts inventory counts, work orders capturing parts usage and labor, and checking GPS units on equipment (about 30%)
• Administrative work: documenting work on tablet technology, completing work orders and parts inventory counts (about 10%)
• Safety: following shop safety protocols, safe forklift operation and proper handling of waste oils and fluids (about 20%)

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED
• Typically 3 years of work experience
• Typically less than 10% overnight travel
• Physical ability to stand, walk and lift moderate-weight material (8-20 pounds)

• Ability to negotiate, handle complaints and resolve disputes
