Shop Tech II - Rental Fleet Equipment Repair

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Shop Tech II in Dallas Hub to repair and maintain machines in the rental fleet, including earth-moving, aerial, landscaping and material handling equipment. The work ranges from general repairs and maintenance to complex repairs on hydraulic and electrical systems and diesel engines. The position reports to the Regional Rental Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced electrical, hydraulic and diesel engine troubleshooting and repairs, and repair small engines, trailers and make welding repairs to equipment and trailers (about 40% of the role)
• Perform aerial lift inspections using the required checklist and check GPS units on equipment, working with the IT team as needed (about 20%)
• Document all work performed on tablet technology, complete work orders capturing parts usage and labor, and perform parts inventory counts (about 10%)
• Follow shop safety protocols, including proper storage of supplies and fuel, disposal of waste oils and fluids, and safe forklift operation to load, unload and move equipment (about 30%)

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED
• Typically 3 years of work experience
• Typically less than 10% overnight travel
• Physical ability to stand, walk and regularly lift or carry material of moderate weight (8-20 pounds); indoor location with possible exposure to dust, fumes, odors, temperature extremes, noise and bright lights
