Senior Systems Engineer, High Voltage Battery Management Systems

About the role

The Senior Systems Engineer will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of high‑voltage Battery Management Systems (BMS) for automotive and stationary applications. This position combines system‑architect responsibilities with software system design, translating customer needs into hardware, software, safety, and validation requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Own and steer the complete HV BMS architecture, including controllers, system functions, software, hardware interfaces, and safety mechanisms.
• Analyze customer requirements and derive system, hardware, software, safety, and validation specifications with full traceability.
• Define the embedded control architecture for BMS software (AUTOSAR), covering application, basic software, drivers, diagnostics, and communication.
• Lead implementation of core BMS functions such as State of Charge/Health/Power, cell balancing, thermal management, and fault diagnostics.
• Integrate functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) standards, supporting safety analyses (FMEA, FTA).
• Provide technical leadership to hardware, software, and validation teams and act as senior technical contact for customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in embedded control systems with proven deployment of HV BMS in automotive, commercial‑vehicle, or BESS applications.
• Hands‑on experience across the full development lifecycle from concept through field support.

Required skills

• Embedded C programming and AUTOSAR architecture (MCAL, diagnostics, communication stacks).
• Communication interfaces: CAN, LIN, SPI, Ethernet, UDS diagnostics.
• Analog, digital, and power‑electronics knowledge for BMS controllers and high‑voltage design.
• Automotive development processes (ASPICE) and safety/security standards (ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434).
• Failure analysis methods: FMEA, FTA.
• Model‑based development for SoX functions, lab equipment (oscilloscopes, CAN/Ethernet tools, HIL systems).
