Senior Solutions Engineer – Federal/Public Sector

About the role

Coder is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to drive pre‑sales and post‑sales engagements with U.S. civilian, defense, and intelligence agencies. You will guide prospects through demos, architecture discussions, and proofs‑of‑concept, often inside classified or air‑gapped environments, translating technical wins into compelling business cases.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical relationship with agency prospects and manage the path to a technical win.
• Demo the Coder platform from developer, administrator, and AI‑agent perspectives, including in secure settings.
• Install Coder on cloud (GovCloud) and on‑prem Kubernetes or VM infrastructure, up to air‑gapped networks.
• Run proofs‑of‑concept that showcase value of AI‑assisted development workflows.
• Become a subject‑matter expert on Cloud Development Environments and agentic AI.
• Serve as the agency’s voice, routing insights to Engineering and Product.
• Log feature requests and issues in public/private Git repositories.
• Troubleshoot deployments, networking, and Kubernetes components during evaluations.
• Contribute documentation pull requests.

Required profile

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and U.S. citizenship.
• Based in the DC/MD/VA (DMV) area with ability to travel to customer sites.
• Minimum 5 years as a Solutions Engineer selling infrastructure or developer tooling, preferably to federal, defense, or intelligence customers.
• Experience with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and LLM infrastructure (e.g., LiteLLM).
• Strong customer‑facing skills that earn trust with technical stakeholders and program offices.
• Ability to translate technical hurdles into mission value in real time.
• Deep Linux fundamentals and comfort at the command line.
• 3+ years hands‑on with Docker and Kubernetes; experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or on‑prem/air‑gapped Kubernetes.
• 3+ years with Terraform or comparable IaC tooling and solid networking knowledge.
