Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Learning & Skills (ELS) engineering team. You will own critical parts of a global, API-driven platform that issues and verifies digital credentials, and help shape its evolution as it scales.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Ruby on Rails services and APIs together with modern JavaScript/React front-ends.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, well-scoped features, ensuring quality, performance and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code while reducing technical debt and simplifying services.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, feedback and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with external vendors, product managers and customer-success teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Support the platform’s growth by standing up new services, integrating across codebases and adopting cloud-native best practices.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing and debugging, while exercising sound engineering judgment.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven ability to make high-impact technical decisions in production environments.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in software architecture, system design and scalability.
• Track record of mentoring junior engineers.
• Comfort working across multiple codebases and quickly ramping up on unfamiliar systems.
