About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a visionary Chief Information Officer to lead its enterprise-wide technology strategy. This senior executive will shape the future of IT across multiple agencies, ensuring reliable, secure, and innovative services for over 10 million citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Direct strategic IT planning and day‑to‑day operations for the state’s Information Technology Department.
• Oversee data integrity, backup, and disaster recovery across all government entities.
• Establish and maintain infrastructure that supports departmental computing and information technology initiatives.
• Provide project management for major information‑system challenges and new technology rollouts.
• Identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies to improve service delivery.
• Collaborate with agency leaders on information capture, storage, processing, and dissemination.
• Develop and manage the annual IT operating budget.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert for the student information system and coordinate data activities with external partners.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading large‑scale IT operations, preferably in the public sector.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic technology plans.
• Strong knowledge of IT governance, budgeting, and disaster recovery practices.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior managers and external stakeholders.
