Senior Software Developer – Chromatography Data Systems

About the role

Axcend is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to lead the creation and integration of instrument drivers for Chromatography Data Systems. The role bridges analytical laboratory hardware with industry‑leading software platforms, ensuring reliable, high‑performance communication.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain instrument drivers for major CDS platforms such as Agilent OpenLab, Waters Empower, and Thermo Fisher Chromeleon.
• Build and maintain desktop interfaces using WPF and backend services or deployment tools with Node.js.
• Manage development and testing environments using VMware to simulate diverse CDS installations.
• Create and maintain professional installers using the Wix Toolset.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and product managers to translate analytical chemistry requirements into technical specifications.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in life sciences or analytical instrumentation.
• Proficiency with large language model (LLM) coding tools for research and assistance.
• Direct experience developing for or integrating with OpenLab, Empower, or Chromeleon.
• Hands‑on experience with driver frameworks such as ICF and RC.NET.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
