About the role
The Texas A&M Center for Grazinglands and Ranch Management seeks a Senior Research Associate to lead field‑based wildlife research and wild pig management across Texas. The role involves direct collaboration with landowners, ranchers, and project partners to design, implement, and evaluate exclusion fencing and damage‑mitigation strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Identify study sites, install and maintain corn feeders, exclusion fences, and remote‑triggered cameras.
- Collect baseline data, monitor animal activity, and analyze video and photo records.
- Coordinate with landowners and partners, providing regular updates and reports.
- Travel to multiple Texas locations to conduct field work and support project implementation.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least four years of related professional experience.
- Ability to work independently in remote, often adverse conditions and operate farm equipment such as ATVs, UTVs, and tractors.
- Strong communication skills, detail‑oriented, and capable of multitasking.
Required skills
- Remote camera monitoring and data collection.
- Fence construction and exclusion‑method implementation.
- Operation of 4‑wheel‑drive vehicles, ATVs/UTVs, and farm machinery.
- Data entry, analysis, and technical report writing.
