Senior Product Manager

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Senior Product Manager to assess market needs and lead cross-functional product teams toward the fastest way to create value. The role delivers business value to drive sales, improve efficiency and raise customer satisfaction through quality products, working with developers, designers and business partners. It combines strategic thinking (growth ideas, change management) with tactical work (data analysis, problem solving, leading teams), and covers products that are higher-profile or larger in scope.

Key responsibilities

• Strategy and planning (50%): turn business goals and user needs into product strategy, set goals and metrics, manage and groom the product backlog, partner with Finance on business plans, monitor research and competition, and balance user needs with business goals.
• Delivery and execution (20%): run user research and testing, document and review quality and change control standards, create, prioritize and accept user stories, take part in standups, iteration planning, demos and retrospectives, and explain technical concepts simply to stakeholders.
• People (30%): foster collaboration with Engineering and UX teams, advocate for the end user, guide junior team members, and help with talent acquisition, development and retention.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Preferred: 3-6 years of relevant experience, including as a Product Manager in a modern software development environment.
• Preferred: a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Reports to the Product Management Manager or Sr. Manager; typically less than 10% overnight travel.

Required skills

• Modern software product management practices and agile methodologies, including XP principles such as paired programming, test-driven development and continuous deployment.
• Creating, prioritizing and accepting user stories.
• User research and testing, and competitive research and analysis.
• Communicating with and influencing functional and technical team members at all levels.
