Senior Paralegal

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Senior Paralegal for a 100% office position. The role works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor, with work products reviewed before submission but often developed with minimal direct supervision beyond written guidelines. It is an hourly, overtime-eligible position under the Service Contract Act (SCA).

Key responsibilities

• Compile, prepare and summarize materials for attorneys' use in discovery and in preparing motions, briefs and other legal documents.
• Summarize depositions and other transcripts, and write preliminary drafts of memoranda and correspondence.
• Maintain case files, index, track and control document discovery, and manage exhibits and materials at depositions and trial.
• Perform simple to moderately complex legal research and identify potentially conflicting statements or areas needing further investigation.
• Review documents for relevance and privilege, and assist attorneys in the courtroom.
• Prepare exhibit cross-references and compile documents for FOIA, production requests and Congressional inquiries.

Required profile

• Ability to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials; US citizenship is required for this work location.
• Paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study.
• At least two years of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is very helpful.
• At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
• Sound working knowledge of federal and state courts, legal research procedures and resources.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure.

Required skills

• Legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
• Word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging and hardware systems.
• Evidence preservation (ESI) tools and eDiscovery procedures.
