Senior Nuclear Process Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Senior Nuclear Process Engineer to support nuclear facility projects and existing site operations in Richland, Washington. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality process design, providing engineering support for ongoing projects, and driving execution from concept through detailed design.

Key responsibilities

• Provide site‑based process engineering support for existing projects and ongoing activities at the Richland facility.
• Develop process deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, equipment data sheets, and design basis documents.
• Perform process and hydraulic modeling to support design decisions, equipment sizing, and system performance.
• Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines to deliver integrated designs.
• Support commissioning, startup, testing, and operational‑readiness activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of process engineering experience, including work at a nuclear, DOE, or NRC‑regulated facility.
• Strong problem‑solving, technical analysis, and communication skills.
• Ability to work directly with site personnel, project teams, clients, and equipment vendors.

Required skills

• Process design deliverables: PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances.
• Process and hydraulic modeling tools: Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Pipe‑Flo.
• Experience with equipment specifications, bid evaluations, and submittal reviews.
• Familiarity with nuclear safety requirements, process hazard analyses, and NQA‑1.
