Senior MSP Engineer

About the role

The Senior MSP Engineer will design, implement, and support client IT infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments within a managed services model. This senior technical escalation point leads complex projects, migrations and helps standardise service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for servers, networks, cloud services and line‑of‑business applications.
• Design, implement and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V), storage and backup solutions.
• Plan and execute migrations such as Microsoft 365, Azure/AWS workloads, server upgrades and network refreshes.
• Configure and manage firewalls, switches, VLANs, VPNs, Wi‑Fi and routing for SMB/enterprise clients.
• Administer cloud platforms including Microsoft 365, Azure AD/Entra ID, Intune and other SaaS services.
• Use RMM and PSA tools to monitor systems, remediate alerts, manage tickets and document work.
• Perform security hardening, patching, identity and access controls, backup/DR validation and endpoint protection.
• Mentor junior engineers and service‑desk staff and participate in on‑call rotations.

Required profile

• 5+ years in an MSP or multi‑client IT services environment.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server, AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and file/print services.
• Proficiency with VMware and/or Hyper‑V virtualization.
• Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, routing, switching and Wi‑Fi.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and Azure AD/Entra ID.
• Familiarity with RMM/PSA platforms such as ConnectWise, Autotask, N‑able or Datto.
• Excellent documentation, communication and customer‑facing skills.
