Senior Modeling & Simulation Engineer – Power & Propulsion

About the role

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense is seeking a senior engineer to develop and maintain models and simulations of spacecraft electrical power and propulsion subsystems. The role involves full‑lifecycle work from requirements definition through operations, supporting both flight programs and proposals while collaborating with multiple spacecraft disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Model and analyze Electrical Power Subsystems (EPS), perform power and energy balance analyses, and maintain the power budget for flight and development programs.
• Support validation of flight software that monitors and commands the EPS, reviewing test plans and results, and contribute to mission operations planning.
• Conduct Hall‑effect thruster plume analyses, develop plume simulation tools, and work with mechanical and propulsion engineers to model plasma‑surface interactions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, aerospace, computer science, mathematics or related field (Master’s preferred); minimum 8 years experience with a Bachelor’s (6 years with a Master’s).
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret‑level DoD security clearance (active clearance highly desirable).
• Proven experience on spacecraft programs and ability to work in a multi‑functional, fast‑moving technical environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Rust, Julia, or MATLAB.
• Experience with version control (Git), issue tracking (Jira), and Microsoft 365 suite.
• Familiarity with electronic design tools like Altium, LTspice or PSpice is a plus.
