Senior Software Systems Engineer – Satellite Flight Software

About the role

Airbus U.S. is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Software Systems Engineer to design, develop, and analyze satellite and aerospace flight software. The role covers the full lifecycle from requirements definition through verification, validation, and operations, supporting cutting‑edge space missions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform systems engineering tasks for satellite software, including requirements development, high‑level design trades, verification planning, and test execution.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met and resolve flight software anomalies.
• Support spacecraft product roadmap by defining design adjustments, schedule, and cost targets for future business captures.
• Maintain and evolve Airbus spacecraft products, promoting cost savings through reuse of heritage platform designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Master’s preferred) with at least 8 years (or 6 years with a Master’s) of aerospace flight‑software experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (Secret or higher preferred).
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering results in complex technical environments.

Required skills

• Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methods.
• Requirements management tools such as DOORS or equivalents.
• Systems architecture and high‑level design trade studies.
• Flight software development, verification, and anomaly resolution.
• Requirements verification and traceability matrices (RVTMs).
