Senior Managing Actuary - Remote

About the role

HCSC is hiring a Senior Managing Actuary for a fully remote position, open to candidates able to work from anywhere in the continental United States except California, New York, Alaska and Hawaii. The role manages the implementation, maintenance and critical review and analysis of actuarial models, studies and systems used for pricing, underwriting, reserving, forecasting and other actuarial functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop complex models and teach others how to build them
• Create written and oral presentations that support decision-making
• Manage complex day-to-day projects involving non-actuarial departments and external parties
• Demonstrate deep understanding of multiple actuarial areas and at least one business segment

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics; other degrees may be considered
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), with compliance with membership requirements
• At least 5 years of actuarial experience in health insurance or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in a management or lead capacity

Required skills

• Verbal and written communication skills, including documentation, training and presentations
• PC proficiency with Word and Excel
• Preferred: pharmacy actuarial experience, Medicare experience, health insurance/managed care experience, SQL, SAS, R or other programming, advanced Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with large healthcare datasets

What we offer

• Base pay range of $112,200 to $202,600, varying with skills, education and experience
