Senior Journal Manager – Publication Operations

About the role

The Senior Journal Manager is responsible for independently managing the end‑to‑end operational process of journal publication, ensuring authors and reviewers have a smooth experience while meeting quality and speed standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage author and reviewer journeys across the journal portfolio, monitor trends, troubleshoot publication issues and ensure high‑quality customer support.
• Analyze data and workflows to identify and implement improvements that increase speed, efficiency and quality of journal operations.
• Plan issue publication schedules, monitor content delivery performance and support initiatives that drive content growth and faster publication.
• Collaborate with editors, publishers, societies and researchers to align on objectives and provide expert guidance on workflow changes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in journal or scholarly publishing operations, preferably at a senior level.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and data‑driven decision making.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills to work with internal teams, external publishers and research communities.
• Ability to lead discussions, influence stakeholders and champion change across the portfolio.
