Senior Investment Operations Analyst, Private Markets

About the role

Manulife is hiring a Senior Investment Operations Analyst for its Private Markets team in Boston, Massachusetts. The role supports the end-to-end operational lifecycle of private market investments, including capital calls, distributions, fundings, expense payments and other cash movements, and works closely with investment teams, fund administrators, custodians, Treasury, Finance and front office teams.

Key responsibilities

• Request, validate and coordinate complex investment and cash transactions, with supporting documentation, approvals and compliance with operational controls.
• Monitor fund and investment cash activity, including bank balances, wires, internal transfers and deal fundings, and process distributions across bank accounts.
• Prepare wire directives, verify payment instructions and follow segregation-of-duties and approval controls.
• Perform portfolio, cash and transaction reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with internal teams, custodians, banks and other counterparties, often under tight deadlines.
• Coordinate corporate action elections with portfolio managers and custodian banks.
• Support banking and liquidity activities, including account administration, cash monitoring and coordination with custodians and banking partners.
• Coordinate fund credit facilities and letters of credit, and monitor liquidity to decide whether activities can be funded with cash or require borrowing.
• Monitor operational risks, maintain controls such as segregation of duties and bank portal entitlements, and support audits and compliance.
• Lead or take part in process improvements, automation and system enhancements, and develop and maintain operating procedures and controls.
• Serve as a subject matter resource and escalation point, giving guidance and cross-training to team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in investment operations, fund administration, investment accounting, portfolio reporting or alternative investment operations.
• Experience with Private Equity, Private Credit, Infrastructure, Real Estate or other private market strategies preferred.
• Strong understanding of capital calls, distributions, investment accounting, partnership structures and investment lifecycle events.
• Experience working with investment managers, custodians, fund administrators and finance teams.
• Professional designations such as CFA, CAIA, CPA, CSC, or progress toward them, are an asset.
