Senior Insurance Verification Representative

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Primary Care department is seeking a full‑time Senior Insurance Verification Representative to verify insurance eligibility and authorizations for both contracted and non‑contracted carriers. This position supports reimbursement processes and ensures accurate patient financial classifications.

Key responsibilities

• Verify insurance information with patients and contact payers to confirm eligibility and authorization requirements.
• Update financial status classifications in the appropriate systems.
• Obtain authorizations and referrals for HMO payers, linking them to the correct visits.
• Respond to inquiries about insurance coverage and claim processing.
• Link alternative insurance plans to appropriate programs during registration.
• Identify non‑contracted HMO payers and refer them to the managing department.
• Serve as lead representative and assist in training new staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of relevant insurance verification experience.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
