Senior Director of Training

About the role

The Senior Director of Training will provide enterprise‑wide leadership for employee development across NRG’s multi‑plant power generation fleet. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape long‑term strategies that build a highly skilled, competitive workforce while supporting both union and non‑union environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and govern the enterprise training strategy, standards, and governance for all generation assets.
• Conduct training gap analyses, create closure plans, and track progress against Generation Training goals.
• Deliver regular updates to senior leadership on implementation status, employee development metrics, and resource constraints.
• Serve as the escalation point for training conflicts, curriculum changes, and participation issues.
• Partner with Talent & Culture to design role‑based curricula, job qualification standards, and technical training materials.
• Establish effectiveness checks, analytics, and reporting to ensure a qualified generation workforce.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading large‑scale training programs in industrial or energy settings.
• Proven ability to work across union and non‑union environments.
• Strong strategic thinking with a track record of developing long‑term workforce plans.
• Excellent communication skills for influencing senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.
