Senior Data Product Manager - Analytics & AI

About the role

Genentech's Data, Digital and Analytics (DDA) team works with Commercial, Medical and Government Affairs partners to turn data, analytics and AI/ML into fast, targeted actions. As a Senior Data Product Manager - Analytics & AI, you will drive the development, execution and optimization of strategic data products, with a focus on forecasting data products and AI strategy support. You report to the Director AI & Digital Data Products and act as an autonomous product leader.

Key responsibilities

• Define the vision for forecasting data products and AI integration, and help build data product roadmaps covering predictive models, AI enhancements, timelines and dependencies.
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of forecasting and AI data products, maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog.
• Champion the product operating model, engage business leaders and technical users (data scientists, AI/ML engineers, analysts) and drive adoption and operational improvements.
• Act as the main liaison between business stakeholders and the data product technology team, managing complex demand and negotiating prioritization.
• Establish and maintain an enterprise data quality framework, defining key metrics and partnering with data stewards and engineers.
• Guide teams on modern data architecture principles such as data mesh, data fabric, semantic layer and FAIR data standards, including build-vs.-buy evaluations.
• Monitor system health, adoption and usage, run structured experiments and drive data-driven decisions to maximize ROI.
• Oversee compliance with data governance policies and regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR, working with Legal, Compliance and Privacy.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Operations, Marketing, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of combined experience in product management, data management, AI, software development or equivalent, with a track record of strategic and tactical execution.
• Experience collaborating with Legal, Compliance and Privacy teams.
• Preferred: advanced degree (e.g. MBA), life sciences digital product experience, agile or cloud data certifications, customer data strategy or CRM experience, and experience leading enterprise data projects.

Required skills

• Big data technologies, relational and non-relational databases, SQL and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Semantic layer, data lifecycle management, enterprise data governance and FAIR data principles
• Data observability, data quality, governance and lineage tools (e.g. Informatica Data Quality, Collibra, Monte Carlo)

What we offer

• Salary range of $140,300 - $260,500 depending on experience and qualifications; a discretionary annual bonus may be available.
• Hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus in South San Francisco.
• No relocation benefits.
