Senior Data Engineer (SEO) - Onsite

About the role

The Home Depot's Online Data Engineer teams build the infrastructure that captures customer data, turn it into actionable information and maintain database pipelines. This Senior Data Engineer position sets design standards and assurance processes for data connections, flows and storage, reviews business and product requirements for data operations and suggests system and storage upgrades. It is an onsite role in the Store Support Center, reporting to a manager or above with no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Business collaboration: partner with internal customers and cross-functional teams, educate them on advanced analytics and look for ways to use data science as a competitive advantage.
• Project management and team support: set project goals, prioritize work, mentor junior colleagues, distribute workload and support recruiting.
• Solution development: deliver work efficiently, interpret advanced analytical methods, communicate insights and prepare reports and presentations.
• Technical exploration: guide teams in designing complex applications, learn advanced analytics and data sources, and improve predictive and prescriptive analytics.

Required profile

• Able to work in the United States; must be 18 or older.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (analytics, computer science, math, physics, statistics) or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: 5+ years of relevant experience; minimum 4 years stated.
• Preferred: proven ability to coach junior engineers and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Preferred: predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis.
• Preferred: ETL jobs and pipelines, orchestration, CI/CD automation, batch and streaming pipelines, and analytical SQL with performance tuning.
• Preferred: Python, JavaScript, React, PySpark, AirFlow, DataProc, Google BigQuery, and QA tools such as Retina, KPI Shield and Alert Goose.
