Senior Counsel, Strategic Partnerships

About the role

Column is a bank‑as‑a‑service platform building modern banking infrastructure for fintechs. We are seeking a senior lawyer to own strategic partnership deals from the first conversation through signing, product development, launch, and ongoing expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Structure and launch bank‑fintech partnerships across payments, credit, cards, and lending.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage complex commercial and regulatory agreements.
• Provide legal guidance on BSA/AML, NACHA, TILA, Reg Z, Reg E, ECOA, and other banking regulations.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, risk, and compliance teams to design flow‑of‑funds models and regulatory frameworks.
• Drive adoption of AI and automation tools to increase legal workflow efficiency.

Required profile

• J.D. or equivalent, licensed in a U.S. state with 7–15+ years of practice.
• Experience in both law‑firm and in‑house roles at fintechs or financial institutions.
• Deep expertise in banking infrastructure, embedded finance, and related regulatory regimes.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
• Comfort making fast, risk‑balanced decisions in a high‑growth environment.
