About the role

The Hills, a Discovery Land Company community outside East Quogue, New York, is seeking a seasonal Kitchen Porter to support its Culinary Department from April 20 to October 12, 2026. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment for members and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Keep all food preparation and service areas meticulously clean and tidy.
• Maintain safe and sanitary conditions for equipment and surfaces, following COSHH guidelines.
• Handle proper storage, movement, and care of kitchen equipment and plateware.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, catering equipment, and linen, including laundry coordination.
• Assist culinary staff with side work, event setup, and post‑event clean‑up.
• Drive and maintain vehicles used for transporting catering materials.
• Communicate task progress and issues verbally and in writing with supervisors.
• Conduct bio‑hazard clean‑up and ensure proper chemical disposal.

Required profile

• Prior experience as a kitchen porter or in a similar food‑service support role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to operate and maintain service vehicles safely.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
